There are 11 Glorious Versions of the Hot Wheels '66 Dodge A100...

And I have 6. Hopefully you're not sick of vans on this blog yet, because today it's the Hot Wheels '66 Dodge A100, my favorite of all the van castings. The stance is sweet, every version is metal/metal with Real Riders, and the proportions and detail are spot on! As much as I love M2's Econolines, the quality control is not quite what you get from Mattel either.

After getting the Starburst Pop Culture edition, I decided I just had to track down the other releases of this casting. So far I'm 6 for 11. Which isn't bad considering that other than the 3 pop culture releases, these don't pop up on eBay too often, and when they do, the prices are not always what I'm willing to pay. Which brings me to another point: Mattel needs to start using this casting more! Given how difficult they can be to track down, it's obvious collectors can't get enough of this release.

Okay, I guess it's not too underused. The A100 was released in 2009, so it's averaging almost 2 releases a year. But this thing is begging for full RLC treatment with Spectraflame paint. Or maybe a Car Culture release with minimal tampos. Mattel could easily do a 5-van mix in the Car Culture line. What about a pink party car or a Toy Fair Car? Lots of options for this Jun Imai-designed casting.

Here's a list of all the A100's to date: I hope to get the last 5 in the near future. While I list 11, the 2 Japan Convention models are actually Code 3 releases and not Mattel-made. In other words, 2 of the 3 most expensive A100's are customs. But they are treated as Mattel releases by collectors and were made specifically for the Japan Convention, so I include them here.

1. 2009: Sweet Rides Dubble Bubble (TRU Box Set Exclusive)
2. 2010: Slick Rides '76' (Blue)
3. 2010: Slick Rides '76' (Red)
4. 2011: Garage Series Blue w/Flames
5. 2011: Hot Wheels Nationals Dinner Car (Purple/Silver)
6. 2011: Japan Convention (Black With Flames)
7. 2011: Japan Convention (Dark Purple with Flames)
8. 2012: Nostalgia Ozzie Osborne
9. 2012: K-Mart Mail In (Green)
10. 2015: Pop Culture Starburst
11. 2016: Pop Culture Hawkeye
12. 2016 (Coming Soon): Pop Culture Peanuts

So there's the list. It will be a perfect dozen with a Pop Culture 'Peanuts' release scheduled for late 2016. While I'm only halfway there, I absolutely love this casting! Enjoy the photos!

Happy Hunting!
